Hurricane Harvest!
Bella Donna, Barbie and I gathered bushels of produce on Saturday. It was during the hurricane rains we were experiencing. We gathered peppers, tomatoes, beans, plums, raspberries, and applies. I also had one scary moment when climbing atop a large plum tree. The fruit is always sweetest top down on plum trees- but getting up their during such adverse weather - with no gloves, soaked with rain, when the branches are absolutely lethal slippery - was probably not the smartest thing to do. At left is me and Barbie, then me atop the tree in the torrential rain, and finally - SUCCESS! Plums! Hooray! We got a whole bushel! :)
More produce below, and what's left to do is prepare everything to keep it through winter. So I will be roasting, blanching and canning and then in the deep freeze they go! I am hoping there is enough time today for me to gather the rest of my basil to prepare pesto base. But the sun goes down really early at this time and with so much of the rest to attend to, I may need to table that until tomorrow. Meanwhile, I did succeed in making some pear and apple sauce.
(I will update this post with how I go about doing that - it freezes well also!).

And aren't these peppers just gorgeous? I think so. Donna and Barbie found them all!
