I really like Erzulie's Authentic Voodoo for many reasons and consider it a special resource. Everything is clearly handcrafted (as opposed to manufactured), and their magical wares are wonderful, novel and useful. As an experienced natural perfumer with knowledge of plant extraction processes, I have found their oils to be of very high quality. Of particular note are the exotic eastern attars and large catalogue of specialty essential oils they offer. As of this posting, Turkish Otto is through the roof on price- but Erzulie's has an excellent quality available at a pretty reasonable price considering if you buy it direct you would need to shell out many thousands of dollars. Erzulie's also has made impact on the community helping others at their own expense as well. Being located in the French Quarter of New Orleans, in dead center of the Katrina hurricane, they too were impacted by this tremendous catastrophe that destroyed homes, businesses and lives. Despite this, Erzulie's started rebuilding their shop by working from a temporary lab space about 40 miles from the city which doubled as a contact point and emergency phone line for friends and family around the community seeking to assist their loved ones. Hougan Shane is of note in spending 4 solid days with no sleep or resources other than his bare hands and a pickup truck, hand clearing roadways for emergency vehicles, supplies and travelers aide to be able to travel to crisis areas.
