I am currently reading this (children's book lol) Hugo Cabret illustrated AND written by Brian Selznick. The artwork captures me; I absolutely love it. It is one of the most BEAUTIFUL books I have ever held, the design, fonts, and weight and color of the papers and backings are outstanding in every way. Just wonderful. The story is partly inspired by the life and work of Georges Méliès, creator of the world's first science fiction movie entitled "A Trip To the Moon" - circa 1902 (see it here).
Sunday, February 3, 2008 If you haven't had the chance to see it and are interested in strange happenings, this is an interesting film. It is definitely "70-ish' on the filming, but there are several very thought provoking scenes. Such as, in the beginning when the main character (played by Ellen Burstyn) happens upon an old gas station attendant on a long stretch of desolate highway (the gas station attendant is actually playing a cameo role and I won't tell you who it is!), and behind him is a sign that reads, "God is love -- and versa vice". The film is about a woman who has an encounter with death and returns to become an amazing healer. Her first healing is upon herself as she was paralyzed. The other riveting scene is where she takes on the illness of someone that is disfigured and crippled. It's one of those films with a lot of subliminal message (my perception of it anyway- others could differ). Also again, you will need to get past the grainy film style. Was reminded of this film by a recent event that occurred in my world. Well, hope you enjoy it if you get a chance to see it though it could be hard to find. There's a brief clip of one scene from the film I found on the web (featuring the fabulous Eva Le Galliard - this was her last film in fact) - and a beautiful scene with an important subtle message woven in: Resurrection - Scene Clip.

Oh Sibyl...i watched the clip and you quite caught me off guard..i am sitting here crying in my coffee!
Not only was this scene so moving..and the message so very powerful, but i visited my Grandmother a few weeks ago and i had those same feelings that it may be our last time. she kept talking about LOVE too. She was truly one of the first faces of love i saw in this world

and Kalliope Netflix! Good idea! I never thought of that. What I did was record it when it came on tv one time. It was very late at night and I was a bit scared like the big baby I am :) (wasnt sure what all it was about the way they described it on TV at the time), but I am glad I saw it because I saw so much "double meaning in it" and you will too I bet!

Hi Gypsy!-- yes I so understand what you are saying; my grandma turned about 90 this past month. I miss her so. She is in a nursing home now. I pray every day for her because she is like an icon in my mind and heart. .. something you understand with your own grandmother too. You will enjoy this film; its the kind you have to see more than once really... well, it strikes me that way anyhow. good energy back to you!

Ron! glad you have seen this one and will return to it. It's wonderful. for "entertainment" I like either funny movies, disney movies, or period pieces like I posted in past such as Tudors and Jane Austin... but for "me" I like meaningful films and collected alot of them. On the metaphysical subjects I have collected many over the years. As they come to mind I will post them as films often help me to remember things or remind me of things in this way... .LOVE SIB
