I am currently reading this (children's book lol) Hugo Cabret illustrated AND written by Brian Selznick. The artwork captures me; I absolutely love it. It is one of the most BEAUTIFUL books I have ever held, the design, fonts, and weight and color of the papers and backings are outstanding in every way. Just wonderful. The story is partly inspired by the life and work of Georges Méliès, creator of the world's first science fiction movie entitled "A Trip To the Moon" - circa 1902 (see it here).

Potiphar's Wife - For Carly

I love Carly's Peel A Pomegranate site. Described as "Jew-Witchery" it's really much more than that. Her reflections on Torah passages are thought provoking and inspiring. I've made several comments on her site already because not only are her views in the study of Torah interesting, they are unique and fun too. Her recent musings on Vayeshev inspired this image which reflects upon the myths and stories surrounding Potiphar's Wife.

Potiphar's Wife - For Carly

"And it came to pass, as she spoke to Joseph day by day, that he
hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her. (Gen. 39:10)

The key thing to note here is that Joseph was serving with his brothers, the sons of Bilhah and Zilpah — not the sons of Leah. Think about it. If you were the sons of the concubines and your brother, the son of the favorite wife (Rachel), ratted you out — wouldn’t you be pissed and hate him?
