I am currently reading this (children's book lol) Hugo Cabret illustrated AND written by Brian Selznick. The artwork captures me; I absolutely love it. It is one of the most BEAUTIFUL books I have ever held, the design, fonts, and weight and color of the papers and backings are outstanding in every way. Just wonderful. The story is partly inspired by the life and work of Georges Méliès, creator of the world's first science fiction movie entitled "A Trip To the Moon" - circa 1902 (see it here).

Sunflower Obsession

I am aware my posting appears rather SPARSE. :) There's so much going on behind the scenes in my life. Most of what I do is simply not posted on any publically accessible space.

And back to my garden endeavors, I had to post these lovely pics of some of my sunflowers. I have a sunflower obsession. Really. Right now for just the recent season of 2007, I believe I have a collection of 283 sunflower images. Just can't STOP photographing sunflowers. Probably these should be posted in a new 2007 garden gallery. But I fear people will be bored just looking at sunflowers all day. And it's very time consuming. Maybe I will be inspired at a future date! But for now, below are some of my favorites. One is a type of Japanese Boxflower, and the others are vivid Gold and orange varieties. At right is my MOST favorite Velvet Queen sunflower. I grown it in a way to obtain the deepest blood red color (much like Chanel's famous "VAMP" cosmetic colors on the market about 12 years ago).

Today is Sunday and the very first day I have had to complete a single thought of my own. Now that I have half an afternoon to muse, create, be.... of course my mind is a total blank. What I have decided to do is document (even if the thoughts appear in irrationale order) whatever "ideas" emerge in process of my busy days. For whatever reason, (perhaps it's rebellion agasinst HAVING to work? Lol) thoughts and insights seem to appear most when one has absolutely NO time to attend to them or contemplate them or DO anything with them. But enough of the diatribe... for now - some sunflowers!
